Eight Year 12 pupils complete their tennis training qualifications over summer

Eight Charterhouse lower sixth-formers have trained as Lawn Tennis Association level one tennis coaches in the summer following their IGCSE examinations. They completed two days of training in June, followed by completion of a portfolio under the supervision of a licensed coach during the summer holidays. Finally, on the day before the new term started in September, they all passed the final assessment day at the Queen's Sports Centre at Charterhouse.

Charterhouse probably has the most comprehensive programme of any school in the country for training up tennis coaches.

Organiser and Teacher of Maths, Tim Reynolds said: "this is a useful qualification to be able to do part-time tennis coaching, but also helps develop transferable skills such as leadership and communication".

Sam Burke of U-Coach commented: "I was highly impressed with how these pupils bought in to the course with so much energy and enthusiasm".

A fantastic achievement, well done to all pupils involved.
