Year 12 Inter-House Cricket

Year 12 Inter-House Cricket

The sun finally decided to come out and with that came an exceptional afternoon of girls Inter-House cricket

There was energy and enthusiasm from the outset with all the girls eager to bring home the silverware for their House. In the opening fixtures Fletcherites and Sutton 2 got off to winning starts, despite Camilla’s best efforts with the bat scoring numerous boundaries for Chetwynd against a strong Sutton 2 side. Chetwynd then recorded their first victory after beating Fletcherites in a nail-biting match that saw the victors winning by just four runs. Meanwhile Catie led her Sutton 2 team to another win against Sutton 1 who provided a strong test with some great bowling from Annie and Pip.

It was all to play for in the last round of fixtures with Catie’s Sutton side needing a win to lift the cup but if Fletcherites could deny them, the competition would be blown wide open for all other teams depending on results. Fletcherites got off to a great start with Laura and Jessica taking early wickets, but Sutton bounced back and posted an imposing total of 255. Fletcherites looked on course to take it right to the wire but a late run out from Hattie pegged them back and Sutton held on for victory. Sutton 1 defeated Chetwynd to pick up their first win with a great performance from Annabel meaning it was all tied up on points for second place. Chetwynd finished runners up because of taking more wickets then Fletcherites and a huge congratulations to Sutton who remained undefeated to lift the trophy.

Well done to all girls who took part!
