The Hunt  Health Centre

At Charterhouse, pupil wellbeing is central to school life. The Hunt Health Centre, our purpose-built medical facility, provides outstanding, confidential care in a warm and welcoming environment which ensures that every pupil feels supported, every day.

Opened in 2009 and named in honour of Lord Hunt of Fawley (S1924), the Centre offers a calm, modern setting where pupils are encouraged to seek help when they need it, and can access high-quality, professional care on-site.

Personalised, Professional Care

Our experienced medical team is available throughout the week to support our pupils’ physical and emotional health. Whether for short-term illness, ongoing care, or health advice, pupils are looked after with discretion, compassion and professionalism.

Services include:

  • Daily Doctor’s Surgery – weekday appointments with a GP

  • Nurse-led Triage Clinics – expert assessment and support

  • On-call Emergency Support – via the Mill Medical Practice

  • Vaccinations and Travel Health Advice

  • Specialist Clinics – including asthma and diabetes education

  • Physiotherapy – with Bevan Wilson practitioners on-site and at Queen’s Sports Centre.

Outstanding Facilities

The Hunt Health Centre is fully equipped to deliver care in comfort and privacy:

  • 10 beds (4 single, 3 double) with ensuite bathrooms

  • Modern treatment and consulting rooms

  • Private reception and internal courtyard

  • Overnight care when required

This enables us to monitor pupils closely, provide a calm space for recovery, and respond swiftly when support is needed.

Part of Our Pastoral Promise

The Health Centre is a seamless part of our wider pastoral care. Our staff aim to be approachable and accessible, helping pupils develop confidence in managing their own health and wellbeing.

All services are fully confidential and in line with the Fraser Guidelines and Gillick Competency framework, which help ensure young people can make informed decisions about their care.

A Sustainable Approach to Care

We are proud that the Hunt Health Centre is powered by renewable energy. Using advanced air-to-water heat pump technology, we significantly reduce CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption, combining first-class care with environmental responsibility.

Preparing for Each Term

To help us deliver the best care, we ask parents to update us at the start of every term (Quarter) if their child has received any medical treatment or started new medication during the holidays.

If your child is unwell, please ensure they have fully recovered before returning to School. In cases of vomiting or diarrhoea, they should remain at home for 48 hours after the final symptoms.
