Sport
Sport is at the heart of Charterhouse life, It brings energy to the School day, pride to our community, and balance to a busy academic life. With 19 different sports to try, there's something for everyone – whether you're an elite athlete or just keen to enjoy playing socially.
Every pupil, whatever their level, is encouraged to take part, stay active, and strive for their best. We offer elite coaching for those aiming high, and a wide programme of recreational sport for those who play for fun.
We believe in the power of sport to unlock potential, support wellbeing, and foster leadership – on and off the field. Our sports programmes will help to shape your character, develop resilience, and build friendships that last a lifetime.

We offer exceptional facilities, from 75 acres of playing fields and a national-standard athletics track, to a state-of-the-art Sports Centre with a 25m pool, fitness suite and a 9-hole golf course. Our setting is spectacular.
Sport has been such an important part of my time at Charterhouse. Playing for the 1st XI Girls' Team Football has taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and being part of something bigger than myself. Helping to coach the U15s has been a really rewarding experience too – it’s great to share what I’ve learned and see the younger players grow in confidence and skill. These moments have shaped me, not just as a player but as a person, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a supportive and passionate community.
MINE, FIFTH (YEAR 11)
Try Everything & Get Active
Our sports programme encourages every pupil to be involved throughout each week. Football, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Athletics and Netball sit at the core — offering year-round competition, skill development and team spirit.
Alongside these, pupils can explore a wide range of other sports, from Swimming and Squash to Fencing, Climbing, Golf and Water Polo. There’s something for every interest, every term.
Competition at all Levels
Competitive opportunities abound with competitive Inter-School fixtures, lively Inter-House competitions, and tailored pathways for all skill levels. Whether pupils are honing their talent to excel or simply enjoying the camaraderie of the game, everyone will find their passions.
Our pupils compete at the regional and national level across multiple sports, and we have strong pathways for our elite athletes. But just as important is the way sport builds character: teamwork, resilience, leadership and grit.
Charterhouse Athlete Programme (CAP)
For those dreaming big, our Charterhouse Athlete Programme offers the support and training needed to pursue sporting excellence.
