Day and Boarding
At Charterhouse, we understand that every family has different needs. That is why we offer both day and boarding places, providing two clear routes into the same rich and rewarding School experience.
Whichever option you choose, your child will have access to our full breadth of opportunity – academic, cultural and co-curricular – within a community that nurtures ambition, character and lifelong friendships.
Some families are based locally and appreciate the balance of a strong academic and extracurricular environment with the familiarity of home life that our day offer provides. Others seek the structure, independence, and immersive opportunities that boarding offers.
By making both routes available, we are able to provide a truly personalised experience, ensuring every pupil feels at home, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential, regardless of how they spend their evenings or weekends.

Day pupils: a full School experience with the comforts of home
Our day provision is the ideal option for local families who want the very best all-round education, paired with all the benefits of a rich and active school life.
Day pupils start their day by going to their House, either before or after breakfast, followed by registration. The school day usually ends after supper, but pupils are welcome to stay later to complete homework in their House studies or join evening activities, with collection times kept flexible. On Saturdays, day pupils may leave once their sports commitments are finished.
Each day pupil shares a study room in their House with another pupil from the same year. These rooms include desks and personal storage, and they become increasingly valuable as pupils progress through the school, offering a quiet space for private and extended study during free periods.
