Northbrook

Northbrook sits between Saunderites and the Ben Travers Theatre, with wonderful views across the playing fields and a magnificent view of Founder’s Court.

As one of the two newest Houses, Northbrook is just a short walk from the Queen’s Sports Centre, golf course, and Central Dining Room.

Mrs Pugh joined Charterhouse as Head of Academic Drama in 2019, having previously taught MYP Drama and DP Theatre at the International School of Amsterdam, where she also directed both Middle and High School productions.

Before that, Rebecca was Director of Drama and later Assistant Head Pastoral at Putney High School in London.

She gained a first-class degree in Classics from King’s College London and went on to study Acting and Musical Theatre at the Central School of Speech and Drama. After a period working as a theatrical agent, she returned to Central to complete her PGCE.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys singing and, funnily enough, is an avid theatregoer.

As a relatively new House, I am delighted that the House staff and the girls have built our ethos and environment together. This is founded on the School’s core values: kindness, moral courage, perseverance, responsibility, and open-mindedness.
Northbrook is a ‘home from home’, where all girls are encouraged, motivated, and challenged – both in their academic studies and in their co-curricular pursuits. There is a strong expectation of collaboration and commitment, whether in Drama, Music, Art, Sport, or smaller internal House events.
Northbrook is a supportive and caring House, where everyone plays a part in creating a happy, warm environment in which all can thrive and reach their full potential.

The House community in Northbrook is so much fun, and we all bonded quickly at the start of the year. It has felt like a home since day one, and it’s great fun to board and always be around people.
