FutureU
Our pupils are amongst the most future-ready young people in the UK. The School’s progressive FutureU activities are a central element of the Carthusian experience, aimed at ensuring pupils can proactively develop the transferable skills, professional knowledge, experiences, and mindset required to thrive throughout their later lives.
The most successful individuals within the workplace of the future will be those who can develop and maintain a set of flexible and transferable skills which inform how to think, how to work, and how to relate to those around us.
Our pioneering Charterhouse Entrepreneurship Diploma is a key component of the FutureU Programme, providing our sixth form pupils with problem-solving skills, adaptability, and employability.

William Henry Beveridge, a British economist and Liberal politician, studied at Charterhouse from 1892 to 1897. A progressive and social reformer, he is considered the founder of the modern British welfare state.
After World War II, he proposed a radical plan to meet every person’s basic needs “from the cradle to the grave” – a vision that transformed British society in the second half of the 20th century and embodies the ambitious thinking nurtured in today’s FutureU programme.
Despite all his academic successes, his proudest moment at Charterhouse was earning his Under School football league badge and appearing in a winning House team photo!
