Art & Fashion Design

The Art & Fashion Design Department is a lively, popular and creative hub within Charterhouse. The study of art is a journey of exploration and our aim is to undertake projects that stretch the appreciation and understanding of the aesthetic, technical and conceptual aspects of art.

Scholars are part of a vibrant and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to share ideas and develop their skills.  Art Scholars are expected to make full use of Studio’s facilities and become involved in the life of Charterhouse and its opportunities for enrichment.

Art & Fashion Design Scholarship assessments are held in November and candidates will be invited to bring a portfolio of work with them.

Drama

Drama Scholars are expected to take a keen interest in the theatre programme and be an active part of that in some way throughout the school year, as either a cast or crew member.

Drama scholars will be invited to submit a video of an unedited performance of a short monologue of their choice of no more than two and a half minutes. Interviews will be by invitation.

While GCSE Drama or A Level Theatre options are available, there is no expectation that a Drama Scholar would opt for these subjects. However, Scholars will be invited to drama workshops, lectures and trips to the theatre organised for those studying Drama and Theatre as part of the curriculum. In addition, we would expect a Drama Scholar to organise a theatrical event as they move through the School (for example directing or producing a House play or a piece for the Arts Festival). Scholars would be offered LAMDA lessons with one of our visiting teachers as part of the Scholarship.
