Registration for 11+ entryOur 11+ registration form covers application and fees for both Charterhouse and either Edgeborough or Windlesham House. ISEBAll registered candidates sit the ISEB Common Pre-test to Charterhouse in the Autumn Term of their Year 6. This is an age-standardised series of on-line tests in Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The results are reviewed in conjunction with a reference from their current School. Charterhouse is an academically selective school and admission is by competitive assessment, interview, and subject to a reference from a candidate’s current school.
Interview & Activity Assessment at CharterhouseSuccessful applicants will be invited to an Interview and Activities Assessment at Charterhouse in the Spring Term of Year 6. The Assessment at Charterhouse has been carefully designed with the primary goal of getting to know our prospective pupils. We achieve this through a mix of engaging group activities, friendly interviews, and an interesting written assessment with the aim of uncovering the diverse talents that each student possesses. The written assessment will be a piece of creative writing.
OffersFollowing the Interview and Activities Assessments, we communicate our offers to all families in the March of Year 6. Successful candidates will only need to sign one contract with Charterhouse and secure their place by paying one deposit. Following acceptance, Edgeborough or Windlesham House will embark on a series of onboarding activities with you, prior to starting in September. During your time at either Edgeborough or Windlesham House, you and your children will be invited to a series of special events at Charterhouse. UK applicants joining our Sixth Form (Year 12)
Our Specialists (Sixth Form pupils) enjoy the very best of what Charterhouse can offer: a dynamic academic environment and a choice of two world-leading curricula, a caring school community, never-ending extra-curricular choices and a beautiful campus.Registration is recommended at least one year prior to entry, and you are very welcome to attend one of our Open Mornings. Each year, we will welcome around 70 new pupils into the Sixth Form (known as 'Specialists') to study either the A level or IBDP curriculum as either a boarder or as a day pupil. These new pupils will join an existing year group of approximately 180 pupils. Competition for places is strong. As a guide, we would expect successful candidates to gain a high proportion of 8s and 9s at (I)GCSE or equivalent. Although our offers will be unconditional, subject choice for A Levels or at higher level in the IBDP will be dependent on certain grades achieved at (I)GCSE (or equivalent). We welcome candidates with particular interests and talents in art, music, performing arts, sport and many other fields. |

TestingBetween 27 September 2025 and 5 October 2025: Candidates for 2026 entry will complete the tests on a digital platform All candidates will be invited to sit three tests in the subjects indicated on your completed Candidate Form. This platform enables candidates to take the test virtually from any location with Wi-Fi and employs cutting-edge technology to ensure secure invigilation. Full details of how to sit the tests will be communicated to applicants once registrations have closed. Some candidates may also be requested to sit an EAL test. All successful candidates will then be invited to our Assessment Day. All successful candidates will be contacted on 17 October 2025. At this point, references from your current school will be requested.
Assessment DayOn 13 November 2025: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend our assessment day at Charterhouse. This is the perfect opportunity to explore all that Charterhouse can offer you. Candidates will engage in a series of immersive assessment activities, explore Charterhouse on a guided tour, enjoy a presentation from our Assistant Head Academic (Futures & Sixth Form), and participate in a conversational interview with a member of staff.
Offers1 December 2025: Successful candidates will receive their offer of an unconditional place. Huge congratulations to all of our offer holders. Competition for spaces to study with us in our Sixth Form is strong. Given this high level of competition for places at Charterhouse, we strongly advise considering your offer as quickly as possible. RegistrationIf you would like to apply for a place in our Year 10 for your child, please complete our online registration form. Registrations cost £420.00 (inclusive of VAT) and are non-refundable. Following submission, our team will guide you through each step of the process.
AssessmentsCandidates will complete various tests on a digital platform, allowing them to take the tests virtually from any location with Wi-Fi. The platform uses advanced technology to ensure secure invigilation. Additionally, some candidates may be asked to take an EAL test. Following the testing, candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Day at Charterhouse. During this day, candidates will participate in a series of immersive assessment activities, take a guided tour of Charterhouse, and engage in a conversational interview with a member of staff. The day is thoughtfully designed to get to know our prospective pupils and understand their diverse talents.
OffersFor the families who receive the offer of a place, we ask them to accept and confirm the offer by signing our acceptance form and paying a deposit as soon as possible after an offer has been received. All offers are conditional upon a positive reference for both performance and behaviour from their current school, during their Year 8. We extend a warm welcome to all our new families joining Charterhouse to participate in a series of special events. These gatherings are dedicated to welcoming them into our community and to provide opportunities for their children to meet and interact with the other children who will be embarking on their educational journey alongside them.

International applicants joining our Sixth Form (Year 12)
Our Specialists (Sixth Form pupils) enjoy the very best of what Charterhouse can offer: a dynamic academic environment and a choice of two world-leading curricula, a caring school community, never-ending extra-curricular choices and a beautiful campus.Registration is recommended at least one year prior to entry, and you are very welcome to attend one of our Open Mornings. Each year we will welcome around 70 new pupils into the Sixth Form (known as 'Specialists') to study either the A level or IBDP curriculum as a boarder or as a day pupil. These new pupils will join an existing year group of approximately 180 pupils. Competition for places is strong. As a guide, we would expect successful candidates to gain a high proportion of 8s and 9s at (I)GCSE or equivalent. Although our offers will be unconditional, subject choice for A Levels or at higher level in the IBDP will be dependent on certain grades achieved at (I)GCSE (or equivalent). We welcome candidates with particular interests and talents in art, music, performing arts, sport and many other fields.

TestingBetween 27 September 2025 and 5 October 2025: Candidates for 2026 entry will complete the tests on a digital platform. All candidates will be invited to sit three tests in the subjects indicated on your completed Candidate Form. Our digital platform enables candidates to take the test virtually from any location with Wi-Fi and employs cutting-edge technology to ensure secure invigilation. Full details of how to sit the tests will be communicated with applicants, once registrations have closed. Some candidates may also be requested to sit an EAL test. All successful candidates will then be invited to our Assessment Day. All successful candidates will be contacted on 17 October 2025. At this point references from your current school will be requested.
Assessment DayOn 13 November 2025, Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend our assessment day at Charterhouse. This is the perfect opportunity to explore all that Charterhouse can offer you. Candidates will engage in a series of immersive assessment activities, explore Charterhouse on a guided tour, enjoy a presentation from our Assistant Head Academic (Futures & Sixth Form), and participate in a conversational interview with a member of staff. If a candidate is studying at a school outside the UK and is unable to come to Charterhouse for one of the assessment days, interviews can be arranged to take place virtually. For candidates in Hong Kong and Mainland China: Academic Asia will hold an assessment day in Hong Kong in November. Please contact them for more information.
Offers1 December 2025: Successful candidates will receive their offer of an unconditional place. Huge congratulations to all of our offer holders. Competition for spaces to study with us in our Sixth Form is strong, given this high level of competition for places at Charterhouse, we strongly advise considering and accepting your offer as quickly as possible. At this time, parents will be asked to secure the place by signing an acceptance form and paying a deposit.. Some reserve offers may also be made.
ScholarshipsCandidates who have shown interest in Scholarships will be invited to assessments between 10 November 2025 and 18 November 2025. International candidates can request to take their assessments online and remotely. Scholarship has been at the very heart of Charterhouse's mission since its founding in 1611. Today, we are proud to offer a large range of scholarship awards to our most able individuals, to reward excellence and celebrate outstanding potential.
