BY IONA HUTCHINSON, DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

We apply a 'complete child' approach to our recruitment. From the moment a prospective pupil walks through our doors, we are keen to understand who they are and who they can become.

Each child is recognised as an indvidual with unique talents and potential.

We believe in our holistic approach to education, which balances academic ambition with character development, access to endless opportunities, and the most forward-thinking education in the UK.

Selection, therefore, is not solely based on academic criteria, but also considers the character, interests, talents and personality of every individual child.

Our recruitment process goes to great lengths to ensure that each applicant has the best opportunity showcase their potential.

We dont expect every child to be outstanding in every area, but we believe in creating a try everthing attitude. I am often asked: what makes the perfect Carthusian?

The answer is not found in a rigid checklist of achievements but in the energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity that our pupils bring with them.

We look for individuals who can combine their academic strengths and ambition with a willingness to immerse themselves in the breadth of opportunity which Charterhouse offers.

Our admissions process isn’t about finding one type of pupil; it’s about discovering all types of individuals.
