At Charterhouse, dialogue is at the heart of connection. The Charterhouse In Conversation series continues to serve as a dynamic touchpoint for the wider Charterhouse Community – a space where Old Carthusians, parents, and pupils come together to explore ideas, exchange perspectives, and broaden horizons.
Each event celebrates curiosity and shared discovery, providing audiences with the opportunity to hear directly from leaders and innovators who have shaped their fields. Previous speakers have included former Prime Minister Sir John Major KG CH, celebrated Olympic heptathlete Dame Denise Lewis DBE, and distinguished economist Sir Charles Bean, each offering unique reflections on leadership, resilience, and the changing world around us.
These conversations do more than inform – they inspire. Whether unpacking the dynamics of global politics, the pursuit of excellence in sport, or the evolution of economic policy, the series fosters lively discussion and a deeper sense of connection within our community.

Sir Charles Bean brought to life what it means to take difficult monetary and fiscal policy decisions in the longer-term interest of the nation, rather than the political desires of the day. It was amazing to have the opportunity to hear him talk.
