Frozen Jr. swept through the Ben Travers Theatre last week, and if there’s one thing the cast and audiences agree on, it’s that this is a show we simply can’t let go.

The production marked a milestone as the first ever Under School musical at Charterhouse, and the pupils rose to the occasion with remarkable talent and teamwork.

Antonina (Remove – Year 10), who took on the role of Elsa, shared a heartfelt reflection on her experience:

Rehearsing and performing in Frozen was a really memorable experience for me, especially as I was new to the School. From the very beginning, the cast and production team created such a welcoming atmosphere.

It was such an incredible experience to see everyone’s talents in rehearsal and see how all our hard work in music, choreography, and acting slowly began to come together.

Being in Frozen was such an unforgettable experience. In that final show week, I felt so grateful for every single person on that stage with me. You build such a bond to the point where age or gender doesn’t make a difference. I will miss it so much, and thank you to everyone for making the whole thing so amazing.

In tech week, all of the costumes, lighting, and set really brought the show to life. The chaos backstage with people’s quick changes showed how close we were to showing everyone our hard work.

Everything feels so much faster when you're out there. The show went by in two seconds. Being part of the Frozen cast feels like one big family

In show week, I expected it to be overwhelming, but everyone’s excitement to perform the show we had been working on for so long created such a brilliant energy on stage that there was no time to even be worried or stressed, especially with such a supportive audience.

It was such a whirlwind of emotions. From the first rehearsal to the last, the cast grew closer than I knew possible. Every hug shared in the wings, every inside joke created, and every theatre song pumped before shows made this experience so special. It was an unforgettable experience that ended in some tears, but started with a group of people connecting through their shared love of performing.

Ellie Woolston, our Performing Arts Graduate Assistant, took on the challenge of directing her first production at Charterhouse, and it's safe to say she did an exceptional job, with every performance selling out and audiences leaving full of praise. Reflecting on the pupils’ incredible work, Ellie shared: “Audiences witnessed something truly special last week at Frozen Jr. The cast’s courage, dedication, and love of performing was clear to see as they forged their own identity in the first-ever Under School musical at Charterhouse.”
