What a week. All we can say is: Nice was nice!
Monday:
Our first French lesson with Nicolas, followed by a brilliant tour of la vieille ville (the old city), which gave us a real sense of Nice from the outset.
Tuesday:
Another early and eager start for lessons with Nico once again, and then a brilliant tour and experience of the famous Monaco, where the sunshine made everything feel even more impressive.
Wednesday:
Three more hours of French, as we discussed Les Vacances this time. Then, a runner for excursion of the week: La Parfumerie de Grasse, where we bagged Christmas presents for the mums (it was only October!), and enjoyed learning how fragrances are created.
Thursday:
A switch-up in the tactics, with an earlier start and an hour of French in the morning. Then we set off for the Stade de Nice, an incredible experience as we lived like players for the day. Another load of lessons followed that afternoon, which made our Friday all the better.
Friday:
Our last day. We visited some ‘typically French’ (as Miss Hyman loves to say) markets in the morning, bagging a crêpe as well. Then we returned for two hours of our last lesson with Nicolas before starting our journey home, tired but very happy with our week.

French pastries in a vibrant hotel buffet, and a ‘civil servant’ lunch every day, kept us well fed and nourished in preparation for each delicious Italian or French dinner.
