SCROLL

In June of this year, 29 pupils entered the annual Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, designed to stretch and challenge pupils interested in Chemistry. Opportunities like this take pupils beyond the syllabus and encourage them to think about science in the way they would at university.

Carthusian entrants this year included 10 Fifths (Year 11) and two Removes (Year 10), despite the paper being aimed at First Year Specialists (Year 12). The challenge took the form of a 90-minute written paper, which pupils completed at school.

Carthusians received four gold awards (awarded to the top 10% nationally), nine silver awards, and five copper awards.

Congratulations to everyone who entered and to:

Top in School: Bowen (Year 11)
Top in First Year Specialists (Year 12): Christy
Top in Fifths (Year 11): Bowen
Top in Removes (Year 10): Barbie

Super-curricular activities play a vital role in strengthening applications for future university and apprenticeship pathways. They demonstrate independent learning, passion for a subject, and practical skills that help pupils stand out from others with similar academic achievements.
