Ryan (Year 13) has achieved national recognition in the Synaptic Essay competition, organized by NeuroSpark London.

NeuroSpark is a student-led organisation based in London to empower young minds and nurture future neuroscientists. The competition, which was open to UK students currently studying for their GCSEs, A Levels, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), challenged participants to write an engaging essay on any topic within the field of neuroscience.

The competition, which launched on 13 May and closed for entries on 30 June, saw a large number of entries from students eager to showcase their knowledge and passion for neuroscience. On 26 July, the winners were announced, with Ryan securing an impressive 2nd place nationally.

Ryan's essay on Proprioception: the Body’s Hidden Sense was praised for 'its exceptional ability to present and communicate complex scientific concepts effectively.'

Your essay truly captured our attention for its outstanding qualities. Notably, your work showcased profound critical thinking and clear logical reasoning, setting it apart from the rest.

In recognition of this achievement, Ryan's essay will be featured in the upcoming issue of Synaptic magazine, which is set to be published in mid-September. Additionally, his work will be adapted into a series of Instagram reels to be showcased on the @neurosparklondon page, further highlighting his talent and making neuroscience more approachable for a wider audience.

Ryan is taking A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Congratulations Ryan, on your fantastic achievement!
