We enjoyed a fantastic day of sailing in Cowes on Sunday. Staff and pupils would like to thank the Old Carthusian Yacht Club and the Royal Yacht Squadron for hosting a fantastic day of J70 yacht racing.
The cricket season is now in full flow with plenty of good fixtures and the House competitions making up busy weeks. Eighteen of our athletes were selected to compete at the Surrey Schools’ Athletics Championships in Kingston, from which we returned with two Gold medals. It's also been a very busy few weeks for tennis with both family and mixed doubles tournaments.
As part of the 150th Anniversary of Charterhouse in Godalming celebrations, we welcomed Broadwater School for both netball and football, and on Monday, we hosted Sports Masterclasses for two local primary schools.
A slightly blustery Monday at the start of the half-term break, saw the first proper outing for the Charterhouse Equestrian Team. And we could not have picked a better event as a showcase than the NSEA National Championships at Hickstead!
We're looking forward to celebrating the School's 150 Year anniversary of being in Godalming with an upcoming series of sports events.
Well done to all the families who played in the Family Doubles Competition on Carthusian Day. Given the numbers we have playing tennis at the moment, it's not surprising that we had a record number of entries this year.
Across the School, we have had plenty of cricket success: the 2nd XI beat Westminster, and the U15As recorded wins against Cranleigh and Westminster. In tennis, so far, 205 pupils have represented the School in a competitive tennis fixture this term. The U14 boys have continued their final form with victories over Churcher's and Cranleigh. Charterhouse celebrated both individual and team success at the Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting (CCRS) Club Matches last weekend.
On 12 May, Charterhouse U18s beat RGS Guildford 52-49, with players from Year 13, Year 12, and Year 10 (playing against boys three years older than them). This capped off a terrific basketball season with the squad winning 19 of 27 games.
The finals of Girls' Year 12 House Cricket took place on a sunny afternoon the Tuesday after Leave Weekend. This year’s tournament mirrored the boys' competition, with teams made up of six players and five over per side matches where all players apart from the wicket keeper required to bowl.
