Examination Success

Charterhouse's class of 2024 are celebrating excellent exam results today, that will take them to top universities across the UK, as well as throughout Europe and the United States. This represents the fruits of two years of persistent hard work from both pupils and their teachers, whose support in laying on countless revision clinics has been rightly acknowledged by our Second Year Specialists (Year 13) as a key to their amazing success. 

170 pupils took A Levels or the IB Diploma Programme this year, and throughout the year group an impressive 86% of papers were awarded A*-B grades (or equivalent). Amongst our top 150 pupils 91% of courses were graded A*-B. 

Within this year’s 147 pupil A Level cohort, 84% of grades awarded were A*-B. Pupils have continued to enjoy particular success across our STEM subjects, with 25% of all A Level grades being awarded at A*.

The following highlights give a flavour of their achievements:

  •  Edward and Jack both achieved A*A*A*A*, having also achieved ten grade 9s at GCSE in 2022. Jack was Senior Scholar and 1st XI hockey goalkeeper and continues his studies at Ivy League University of Pennsylvania. Edward, a music scholar, was the soloist in Poulenc’s Organ Concerto in the School Summer Concert and goes on to read Mathematics at Warwick.
  • Twins Alessandra and Tatiana achieved three A*s each, whilst Margherita achieved no fewer than five A Levels (A*A*A*AA). 
  • Tianzong achieved 4 A*s, whilst also excelling on the stage, with a lead role in the School musical Titanic in 2023, as well as in Legally Blonde The Musical this year. He will read Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial.
  • Ritvik undertook a highly unusual wholly Classical curriculum, achieving A*AA in Greek, Latin and Classical Civilisation.
