GCSE Success

GCSE Success

Our pupils are celebrating excellent GCSE results today.

32% of all papers sat were at the top grade 9 (compared to a national figure of 5%), and over half (56%) of all results were graded 9 or 8 (A* under the previous grading system).

These impressive results mark the culmination of two years of hard work, from both pupils and teachers alike.

  • Seven pupils achieved the incredibly impressive feat of receiving ten grade 9s: Alison, Sebastian, Evie, Laura, Ayah, Margarita and Alex.
  • They were among 24 pupils who achieved eight or more grade 9s.
  • 67 pupils achieved all 9-7 ('straight As').
  • 35% of results in Biology, Chemistry and Physics were at grade 9, attesting to the high quality of teaching and science resources at Charterhouse.

  • Alison achieved 10 grade 9s yet still found the time to star as Vivienne in the School musical Legally Blonde The Musical, as well as being part of the Lacrosse 1st team and taking on the role of lead singer in one of the School’s top rock bands.
  • Kade achieved all grades 8/9 whilst enjoying a leading role in Legally Blonde The Musical.
  • Margarita achieved ten grade 9s from her eleven subjects, also winning a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship for Design Engineering.
  • Josh, a dual academic and sports scholar achieved nine grade 9s, whilst finding the time to play for the 1st XI cricket side during the busy exam season.
  • Claire, a piano virtuoso who has won several international competitions, achieved six grades at 8/9 whilst managing her gruelling 3-4 hour daily practice regime.

Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to welcoming you back to School in September for the beginning of your IBDP and A Level courses.
