On Sunday 23 February, Charterhouse's very own rock legends MAGENTA took part in Priors Field's annual Battle of the Bands.
This marks our second year sending a band from Charterhouse to compete against 15 other local schools, all battling for the chance to win a set at Guilfest, a renowned musical festival celebrating live performances in Guildford!
Competition was tight, with slick and impressive performances covering a wide range of music from Rage Against The Machine, ABBA, Paramore, Nirvana and some bands even performing original songs. The running order was drawn from a hat, and MAGENTA performed their set halfway through the afternoon, delivering polished renditions of Muse's 'Plug In Baby' and Guns N' Roses' 'You Could Be Mine.'
The judges commended the bands on how tight their performance was, with special mentions given to lead guitarist Ayaan (Year 11) for his incredible mastery of Slash's soloing, and lead singer Aarna (Year 11) for her powerful falsetto and fantastic showmanship.
The top prize went to Weydon School, who performed two originals songs that truly deserved to be played at Guilfest.
