Fixture Updates

It has been a fast start on the Hockey front this term with some the highest quality on display.

It all started with a great preseason session held the week before School started to get players fit and ready for the season ahead, unfortunately we missed a full day of Hockey due to frozen pitches.

The end of last week saw Charterhouse take on Eton where the Hockey showed moments of a fantastic standard and of what’s to come for the rest of the season. There were a few notable performances on the day one being the 1st XI with a great 2-0 win as well as a 2-2 draw for the 15A team.

The first Saturday block saw Charterhouse take on Hockey powerhouse Cranleigh which resulted in what can only be a great weekend for the game. The standard on display was superb and there were some incredible games on the day. The 1st XI and U14A teams both lost 2-1 in two exciting games. The 2nd XI,16A,16B AND 14C teams were all victorious on the day with draws from 15A,14B and 14D teams.

This week we will see the 15A in cup action against Eastbourne and the 16A in action against RGS Guildford and St George’s Weybridge as well block fixtures against Seaford and Wellington College.

An action packed start to the term for Netball with trials occurring as soon as the pupils returned back to School. It was a great shame that both the preseason Netball training and matches against Lord Wandsworth were cancelled due to the extreme temperatures the weekend before the start of term, that would have given the girls an opportunity to blow away the cobwebs, practice their set plays, work on ball skills and practice with their team members – but it wasn't meant to be. Instead, the QSC and prom courts were the height of action from Wednesday onwards to prepare for the first block fixture against Bradfield College.

The block saw many positives in our teams' performances and showed that we are at a good level at the start of the term. Some excellent Netball was played across all the teams with the ball getting passed very quickly down the court and many interceptions were gained. The speed of the games were quick for this early on in the term, which is promising and gives us a great platform to work with. The seniors have some good competitive matches and demonstrated that we are nearly there in terms of being competitive against these big established schools. The 4th team had a fantastic win and should be proud of their efforts.

The U15s also had some good games, away at Bradfield with the U15D resulting in a good draw. All of the other teams, competed well but were outmarked by some strong Bradfield teams. The U14s were also away and the U14A had a fantastic win as well as the U14E team. The U14C also got a good draw.

A great start to the term and we look forward to training this week with a full block against Christ Hospital at the weekend as well as some teams playing Hurstpierpoint.

A really positive start to the term for Football last week, with the girls’ main team kicking off with wins on Saturday for both the 1st XI and U15s against Lord Wandsworth College. Our 1st XI and U15s Girls’ teams have both been entered into new ISFA Regions Leagues, so we have lots of exciting fixtures to come. This week we have a big week of fixtures to keep your eyes on:

  • Thursday 23 January: U15 Boys are in the ISFA Cup Quarter-finals against Alleyn’s - good luck boys, and the 1st XI have their first league fixture against St John’s Leatherhead.

  • Saturday 25 January: our Senior Boys A/B and C teams have a block against RGS Guildford whilst all of our girls' teams will welcome teams from St Marys Ascot.

Good luck to all!
